Swing, second edition, by Matthew Robinson and Pavel Vorobiev. In-depth guide (950 pages) for mid-level Swing developers, with lots of sample programs.Published 2003.

The Definitive Guide to Java Swing by John Zukowski (3rd edition published 2005, 1000 pages) presents Swing internals and advanced features like drag and drop and undo support. Third edition is updated to cover SDK 1.5.

Hardcore JFC: Conquering the Swing Architecture is a 300 page reference guide for Swing components, with a discussion of the component model. Book is a bit old (published 2001), but still has a comprehensive list of components that are used even today.

Core Swing: Advanced Programming by Kim Topley is an old book (December 1999), but in it’s 600 pages you will find a good overview of several advanced topics like undo/redo and drag and drop, advanced manipulation of text editors (including Bi-Directional text) and customizing Swing components

Graphic Java 2, Volume 2: Swing (3rd Edition)* by David Geary (Sun Microsystems and Prentice Hall, 1999), is a detailed reference on 1622 pages, with many examples and clues for solutions. Though it is a bit old, it is still a valuable resource for mid-level developers.
